The advocates for Big Government and Central Planning (we can call them the Bigocrats- the RULE of BIG Government and a Planned Economy) love to throw us off the scent of their true intentions, which is to create a big nanny state (led by the like of Nanny P., the present “Speaker of the House” and Obamessiah), by throwing up something else for us to hate. When they use foreigners or foreign powers we call this jingoism, when they use racial issues we call it “playing the race card”, and when they wedge issues related to economics we call it “class warfare.”

Big Oil is the new bogeyman of the Bigococrats as they seek to implement an energy scheme that will transfer wealth and control from a few oil companies to a few “alternative energy” companies and the government, which, coincidently, are invested in by THEM and are therefore going to make them individually rich and powerful.

To begin with, as a Freedomist and a Sovereigntist I am for promoting what I call “house portable and house affordable, locally self-sustaining” energy solutions which may include biofuels and biogas from waste products, solar, wind, and hydro power, and smart use of locally available fuel sources such as coal, oil, and etc. What I advocate for is a transfer of wealth and power in the realm of energy production and delivery from the few to the many, down to the level of small communities and individual home owners wherever possible.

This is a good vision, and it is a possible vision in the very long term, especially as we develop the same kinds of technological advances that made motor transport, cellular phones, and computers “house portable and house affordable” at the local level.

The unpleasant fact is, however, that our economy depends on cheap energy and right now, if you remove all the artificial constraints from the market, oil, coal, natural gas, and nuclear power, but especially oil and coal, are the cheapest form of energy: their present high cost is a function of artificial constraints on production, high court costs and nonsensical environmental regulations, and other nonsensical regulations that add to the cost of finding, obtaining, and delivering these fuels.

At present Big Oil is the single greatest asset we have in terms of producing cheap energy and with a profit margin of less than 9% the government makes far more off of every gallon of gas sold than does the oil industry.

Today’s Bigocrats, and they populate both parties, think they have figured out how to make you forget that they really don’t want cheap energy, that this works for them on all kinds of levels, by trying to make you angry at “Big Oil.”

The Oil Industry is not saintly, and I look forward to the day when we simply do not need them for near as much energy as we do now, but when compared to the Big Government, a weird mixture of Bigocrat owned corporations and Bigocrat controlled governing agencies, of the Bigocrats the Oil Industry is rather saintly.

Who taxes more of your income, the Oil Industry or the Bigocrats?

Who enacts the most silly and nonsensical regulations that interfere with the cost of trying to make a living. the Oil Industry or the Bigocrats?

Who profits MORE from the high price of your gasoline, the Oil Industry or the Bigocrats?

In terms of being a sovereign individual and having the freedom to live your life as you choose in free association with whomever you wish to associate with, the Oil Industry could care less, but the Bigocrats are always trying to create a one-size fits all “program” or policy which everyone must follow: either we must all DO or be part of this or that or we must ALL NOT do or be part of this or that.

The amount of wealth and power you control is shrinking, and it is not the Oil Industry that is the main culprit, or thief, it is the Bigocrats, under whatever guise they want to present themselves (e.g. centrists, moderates, liberals, socialists, progressives, etc.) who are doing more harm to your wealth and your rights than any single foreign or domestic “bad guy” has the power to do.
