The carrier is not a major problem fo the US, it uses vtol AC that are still having teething proble,s but I do not think the US is the target.

According to Sam Brown, who posts in a Yahoo roup and who tends to be intelligent and informed, the deployment of this battle group was announced in December. I do not have confirmation of this but will get it.

The fact that this deployment was planned since dec, if this is correct, could mean it is not a big deal, albeit it is unusual, or it could mean all of this was planned since then.

Russia is different from the old USSR, it is acting more like Peter’s Russia with a more anti-western bent than the USSR, in my opinion. This is not ideology at wok, e.g. world revolution, this is straight on imperialism and in some espects may be seen as more problematic.

RUSSIA is not seeking a general war with the US< just on our periphery. Russian ships would not attack the US, or Israel, but as Russia helps Ian, who helps our enemies in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the Arab power possible take this opportunity to attack Israel, Russia would be free to deal with the Ukraine.

Russia does not care if the Arabs win or lose against Israel, they just want to bleed America indirectly, avoid a direct war with us. Our “wimplomats” as SNOOPER calls them are giving them all the  wrong ques, demonstrating weakness and lack of esolve.

The correlation of forces is such that a general conflict on the US periphery is possible, especially with the US now seeming to try and find a “diplomatic” way out of this situation that will allow for a weakening of an ostensible ally.
