The BIG headline of the day should not be about Obama or the normal droll that passes as “news” these days, the blaring headline should be that Russia, Syria, and Iran are all headed towards a military confrontation with Israel and the Urkraine and that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said Russia will have to respond militarily to the deployment of elements of a U.S. missile shield in Central Europe, according to RIA Novosti.

Private donations have funded the extra $50 of security and infrastrictire for the Republican National Convention.
With the onslaught of Gustav, the RNC may well have cost over $50 million to private doners and deprived Minnesota of $162 million in gross revenues. The extra food, toys, etc ordered in advance of this event will generate direct, immediate losses to a lot of smal businesses, such as t-shirt shops, who may not be able to absorb the dramatic reversal of the ledger.
Instead of enjoying a windfall, companies, already complaining of ‘light’ traffic in advance of RNC 08′, may find themselves forced to close their doors. The long-term effects of the RNC08 cancellation, if it was completely absorbed by the eve3nts of Gustav, on St. Paul downtown will be felt for years to come.
If Gustav weakens dramatically, and the event can get started by Tuesday, Aug 2 (Monday has already been cancelled, and no one will be coming to buy limo rides), perhaps the companies involved may yet turn a profit, even if not the potential profit of a 4-day event.
These are real people, most of whom are business people trying to make a living for their families, but elitist Leftists like Don Fowler
and Michael Moore
will have you believe that Gustav is evidence that God is on the side of the Democrats. But who’s side are the Democrats on? Certainly not the people of the Gulf Coast, who will lose even more than the business people in St. Paul (including their lives). Certainly not the people of St. Paul, whose business community has invested millions of dollars anticipating a high volume of traffic.
While real, non-partisan Americans potentially lose their lives, most likely will lose property, and could very well lose profits, possibly even their family-dependent businesses themselves, the Democrats chuckle. This is not a partisan issue, but when a collective group of Leftists, such as Fowler and Moore, appear in public venues and chuckle at others’ real miseries to come, they must be called out. The Old Media won’t do it. The Freedomist Media and many more like us will bypass the New Media and go right directly to the people.

QUESTION: Quickly on Pakistan. The new Pakistani Ambassador to the United States has publicly talked about the need for the United States to sort of stand back from Pakistani politics and let democracy run its course, even if it’s messy, even if it takes time. And I guess I’m wondering whether that is what the United States intends to do and how long the U.S. can afford to have political instability in Pakistan.
MR. WOOD: Well, for one, our policy is to stay out of Pakistan’s internal affairs. We’ve said that over and over again. Pakistan is a close ally. It has a new government. That government is trying to find its way. It’s sorting through a whole host of very difficult issues. We want to cooperate very closely with Pakistan, as we’ve said over and over again, on the war against extremism. And you can rest assured that the United States is there to support Pakistan as it tries to, you know, further consolidate its democracy. And I would just reject charges that we are trying to interfere in Pakistan’s internal affairs. It’s our policy to stay out of Pakistan’s internal affairs.

CONFIRMED: Sep. 1, 2008 11:00 AM The Nigerian President is alive, the state of his health is reported fair to good, but the greater issue of not informing the people of Nigeria of this surgery and the uncertainty caused by not communicating accurately and in a timely manner. We will continue tracking this story with information on why this is of vital concern to the world, not to mention Nigerians both in Nigeria and outside of Nigeria.
Information has reached me that the president of Nigeria Umar Musa Yaradua is dead in Saudi Arabia during a surgery…. efforting, details coming!!! Reliability- 2 (1-5, 5 is highest)
The continued absence of Yar’Adua from Nigeria and the fact that the public has not seen or heard him over the last week, begs the question of whether this can create an opening for some military element to take over the country?
The government said in a statement he was expected back in Nigeria soon after his pilgrimage.
“The federal government wishes to restate that Mr President is very well and healthy. He is in good health to steer the affairs of the state,” the statement said.
This is less reliable as the Nigerian Government has every reason to cover this information up. Yaradu’s death could seriously destabilize Nigeria and affect oil prices.
CONFUSION reigned on Sunday over President Umaru Yar’Adua’s health as the Federal Government insisted that he was performing lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia while an official of King Fahd Hospital said the president was in the hospital undergoing treatment. Rumors are spreading, few trust the government’s statements. ON SCENE sources say, “If President is dead, this could lead to civil war.” This is probably sensational but not beyond the realm of possibilities.
