Sen. Cornyn Reiterates ALG Call for ACORN Investigation
ALG Editor’s Note: Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) has taken the lead in echoing ALG News’ call for a full-scale criminal investigation of ACORN election fraud. As the letter below indicates, Mr. Cornyn wrote to Attorney General Michael Mukasey expressing his concerns about reports of ACORN’s widespread election fraud, “which seem to emerge on a daily basis.” For all the breaking news on the ACORN scandal, editors are encouraged to visit Stop ACORN.org where ALG is hosting a petition calling upon the President to immediately launch an investigation into ACORN. Here follows Mr. Cornyn’s letter:

The brightest future for education begins here.
We believe parents, and not the state, should be in charge of their children’s education. That control may take many forms and levels of involvement, but the state will never be part of the picture.
If this seems like an impossible idea, consider that 8 million children already learn free of state control. We’re not starting from scratch here. The snowball of educational independence is already rolling.
The Case for Separation
Take a deeper look here at how the state came to control education, why it shouldn’t, and how millions of people are taking back their educational freedom.
1. How did the government get so involved in education to begin with? It wasn’t always this way. The
2. Why shouldn’t the government be involved in education? The Short answer: Government schooling stands in direct opposition to the liberty this country was founded on. It fosters unquestioning obedience, acceptance of authority, herd mentality, and dependency…
3. Doesn’t the government have a direct interest in an educated populace? Yes, the government does have a direct interest in an educated populace — one that is educated just enough and in ways that will perpetuate the goals and existence of the government…
4. Can’t we just reform public schools? I know a lot of good teachers. Let’s start with the teachers, then we’ll address reform. There are lots of great teachers out there, all too many of them trapped in a system that prevents them from fulfilling their potential and their dreams. They’re bogged down…
5. How would people pay for private schooling? What about vouchers? Here are some of the ways people would pay: Most people are more able to pay for education than they think. Parents would set priorities and plan for schooling just as they do for a home or a car…
6. What about the poor? What about irresponsible parents? Before we venture into this very important question, consider this: government schools already fail the poor in some of the most spectacular ways — illiteracy, dangerous schools, the worst teachers, low expectations, and…
7. What about special needs students? As with the question about the poor, we must consider that a large portion of special education students are being badly served in public schools… Many special education students don’t belong in the classes they’ve been assigned to…
8. What about tolerance and diversity? The ultimate irony may be that today’s educators cry tolerance and diversity when public schools were originally instituted to wipe these things out, to make one homogenous, think-alike (even if they couldn’t make them look alike) herd of citizens. School founders objected to…
9. Who will keep the private schools accountable? Parents. When parents pay for the schooling, they have a direct stake in the results. If they aren’t getting their money’s worth, they can take their kids out and choose from the many other options available — another school, home schooling, a mix, tutors…
10. Is this really practical? Can it work? We’re not starting from scratch here. The revolution has begun. It’s only a matter of time. The utopian dream of controlled public schools is dying, as all utopian dreams do. People wish to live their own dreams, make their own paths, achieve their own success…
Is there a solution? Yes! It is our job at the Alliance to show you not only how and why government schooling is so harmful to children, families and society — but also how many solutions are available today with many more on the near horizon.
The future is full of hope. Please join us — and millions of others — on an exciting journey toward educational freedom.

I am putting together an encouragement journal for Jennifer (Muscle Girl).
She is in the USAF Reserves and stationed in
like to write an encouraging note (no limit on amount of words)
for me to put in her journal you can do so
by leaving it here in comments or you can send it in a private message to me.
For those at Stumble Upon you can send it to me in a private message
on Stumble Upon. I will print them and put them in her journal.
The cut off date for entries for this journal is November 3, 2008.
This is how Jennifer describes herself on her profile on her SU blog
:
“I am a full time firefighter working in NW Florida. SO beautiful!! I am also a
USAF Reservist & a personal trainer. I thank GOD for the
opportunity to help others. Learning more and more everyday and
I give all the credit and praise to my LORD JESUS CHRIST.
HE is my first Love and the pure light of my life. As much as I love my family,
friends, job and my bodybuilding, I love JESUS beyond any words I could speak.
I have known HIM for over 10 years and it has been my
RELATIONSHIP w/HIM that has changed me in every way.
It only continues to get better as I get to know our Creator
and as Pure Truth floods my heart and mind. People constantly comment on how
happy/positive I am and it is the pure joy and LOVE I have in my heart
for CHRIST! HIS Love just “spills” out of me! Our lives here are so, so short,
but our souls continue on for eternity, even after our bodies die.
I have NO fear of death and look forward to my life after this one
with my most Precious Savior and LORD JESUS!”
I get to visit with Jennifer online. She is thankful that God has allowed her
to be deployed to
get to work with the Iraqi children. She volunteers with Operation School Supplies.
She said the Iraqi children are well stocked with school supplies
but the Iraqi children need closed toed shoes, socks, rain and cold weather coats
and gloves. If anyone is interested in helping with children supplies,
let me know and I will get you the information you would need.

Arab Oral Culture and Lack of Knowledge
by Sami Alrabaa
We Arabs, the majority of us, at least, rarely read. Hassan, a Syrian graduate, said, “What do you want me to read? State-controlled newspapers? Cooking books? Horoscope and dream interpreting books? That is all you can get in almost all Arab countries in terms of books.”
Most Arabs watch TV or listen to the radio. What do they watch and listen to? They listen to music and watch movies and soap opera serials. Politically-interested Arabs watch Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya for news and political discussions. Most Arabs distrust news on state-controlled radios and TVs. Viewers of Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya, the majority of whom are anti-Western and anti-American, enjoy the black and white picture depicted by these channels.
Very few political Muslims, the so-called Islamists, have read the Koran and Hadeeth. The majority have not, but dream of paradise on earth ruled by Al Shari’a.
