“Editor’s” Note:  The ACLU is one of the most ungodly, anti-American scourges that plague our nation.  They have accomplished little of value and have done much to destroy this nation’s Biblical foundations.  This story is an anomaly; they bungled into getting one right for a change.  By Tom Burghardt

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed new Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests demanding that the U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) and the National Security Agency (NSA) disclose “any policies and procedures” that protect Americans’ privacy rights when the ultra-spooky agency “collects, stores and disseminates private U.S. communications.”

The FOIA brief opens a new front in an on-going campaign by the civil liberties’ group to pry information from unaccountable Bush administration spy agencies and their “up-armored” lawyers in the Justice Department.

According to Melissa Goodman, a staff attorney with the ACLU’s National Security Project, “the American public needs to know whether the NSA’s procedures are sufficiently protective of our privacy rights. Unfortunately, there is often no meaningful court oversight of the NSA’s surveillance activities and the NSA is left to police itself,” Goodman said in apress release on Wednesday.

Coming on the heels of last week’s report by ABC News that provided new details of the Agency’s illegal spying on hundreds of aid workers, journalists and soldiers stationed in Iraq, the ACLU is charging that the NSA spied on personal phone calls that “were not in any way related to national security.” Indeed, intimate phone calls intercepted by Army communications specialists were routinely shared and swapped like salacious trophies amongst NSA personnel for their amusement.

At a news conference last February, President Bush declared that “there is a constant check to make sure that our civil liberties of our citizens are treated with respect.” A whistleblower, former Navy Arab linguist David Faulk however, put paid to Bush’s lie when he told ABC that “he and his fellow intercept operators listened into hundreds of Americans picked up using phones in Baghdad’s Green Zone from late 2003 to November 2007.”

But the network’s belated report on a story initially broken in July 2007 by David Swanson atAfterDowningStreet.org, former U.S. Army Reserve Arab linguist Adrienne Kinne, who was assigned to a special military signals intelligence unit run from the NSA facility at Fort Gordon, Georgia, revealed that illegal surveillance on Americans was widespread.

Prior to the September 11 terrorist attacks, NSA operators were forbidden to listen in or collect information on Americans. The NSA was specifically barred from doing so by United State Signals Intelligence Directive 18 (USSID 18).Kinne also told Swanson that many of the individuals the NSA spied upon were journalists, including those staying at a Baghdad hotel that turned up on a U.S. target list.

Despite Kinne’s repeated attempts to bring this information to the attention of Sen. Patrick Leahy, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, she was rebuffed by Leahy and his staff. “Now, in response to ABC News picking up the story,” Swanson reported October 10, “Leahy is pretending to be interested in the matter.”For the rest of the article, click here… http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=10604

We can defeat socialism peacefully, legally, and QUICKLY!

You have been receiving voluminous articles from me, and I apologize for the heavy reading, but if you look around you perhaps you can understand the necessity of giving full and complete explanations.

Now is the time to ACT

……and if you feel passionate about your freedom if you want to help us represent you in DC or elsewhere, and if you want to defeat socialism peacefully and legally but QUICKLY before it is TOO LATE, then I know of now better thing you can do but to become an active support of The American Freedomist Network and the Freedomist Movement in general.

Right now you have no voice in Washington DC, and a diminishing voice in the media, education, or state governments.

The Democratic party is now controlled by ultra-socialist revolutionaries and the GOP now has an RNC bureaucracy that is run by moderate socialists who have betrayed their party platform.

We are going to make sure your voice is heard: first by having our own weekly “trip to DC” to urge Senators and Representatives to form a Freedomist Caucus and to support the Constitution which is under attack and at the same time by expanding the American Freedomist Network to get the truth, expose it, and get it out to the public past the media filter.

We have already had limited successes with a few people working in concert to get past the media filter and we have already made inroads in DC with a few key “Freedomists” who take their oath of office very seriously. The concept of having each Senator and Representative SHADOWED by an “Agent” of the AFN who will seek interviews, report on their activities, and organize an information committee of local Electors who will help at the local level to expose the “good and the bad” that these people do to the people who actually VOTE for them.

In my last major article I sent you I talked about How to Defeat Socialism. This is what we are doing NOW to defeat socialism and we need your participation.

This is perhaps the most ominous aspect yet of both the radicalized Democratic Party in general, and the Obama campaign in particular: they appear to be after ways how the law can the used to criminalize opponents. Uncle Joe would be proud!

Point in case is a local Democratic chairman reacting to Philip Berg’s valid lawsuit for Barack Obama to present evidence of natural born citizenship. In this footage we can literally see him looking for ways to delegitimise Berg’s efforts: either he’s on a personal vendetta, or he must be trespassing on somebody’s privacy rights, etc.

This is as much undermining the rule of law, as ACORN is crushing the very foundation of democracy. Republican rallies are almost certainly infiltrated by agitators. These tactics are truly and utterly irresponsible and destructive.

A Pajamas Media article “Justice Dept. Targets GOP Activists” lists one case of legal abuse, Rick Moore in “Obama Wants to Prosecute Republicans Trying to Stop Voter Fraud” chronicles another.

Then there is the minor matter of the Truth Squads (read Missouri Governor Blunt’s press release), followed by Obama’s judicial obliteration of the Second Amendment.

For the sake of brevity let’s not today go into the actions of Action Wire, or the creepy Obama proposals for a national service: it’s the legalisms and the mob mobilization culture that are such disturbing features. It’s classical Alinsky, taken to the inevitable end: the demoralization and subversion of Western society.

Let’s also leave aside the outright lies, misquoting and having fake hysterics over it, the genuine rage that’s out of control and the psychological coping devises of displacement and projection (see BDS, PDS, MOI, etc.).

What cannot be ignored today is the hyena mob attack on citizen Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher which is shedding whatever remnants of respectability that perhaps remained. It tells of an end-justifies-the-means mentality that comes with the pragmatist approach. What’s more disturbing? The fact itself, that some don’t see the problem, or that others completely miss the point?

The unconscionable mob turns on a single citizen, a plumber, so as to divert attention away from the redistributive nature of the Obama policies, the egalitarian collectivism that was to remain shrouded in mystery until “the deal was closed.” The episode is exemplary for the ongoing con job.

Today’s article by Ruben Navarrette Jr., “The Democratic Party’s Drubbing of Joe the Plumber” sums it up as follows:

“With just a few weeks until the election, Obama made a major boo-boo that could cost him the race. What are Democrats and their simpaticos in the media supposed to do? They can’t turn back time. So instead, they turn on Joe the Plumber.”

This isn’t just character assassination; Obama’s fascoid thugs are trying to destroy Joe Wurzelbacher as a person for nothing less than exposing their carefully cultivated cover.

On Politeia we often try to analyze current and past events on the philosophical level, that is to say, in the very broad terms ‘from orbit.’ The assault on Joe is the result of a corollary of Leftist, relativistic philosophy which holds that all ideas are equally valid. Catholics have a saying: “love the sinner, hate the sin”. Relativism turns this on its head and says, “let’s all be tolerant of equally valid ideas, and let’s make persons comply with them. Ideas are sacrosanct, persons fair game.
