Pancreatic cancer is a deadly form of cancer that has little funding, and little progress has been made. Dr. Randy Pauch spoke before Congress just before he died. We show this because 1. There should be more funding for pancreatic cancer. Aids isn’t as deadly as pancreatic cancer, yet it is way more funded. 2. a man who serves as a symbol of determination, courage, and hope at a time when all is dark. His life was coming to an end, and yet he remains hopeful, and yet, with his literal last breath, he was fighting to stop others from going through the painful death that he was experiencing.
His life is a symbol of humilty to us all who so often see difficulties around us, in this case political difficulties. Obama appears that he will win in a landslide, even with all the baggage that would bring most other Presidential contenders down before a single primary every trook place. The democrats, who have threatened to socialize every aspect of our lives, who have threatened to oppress us (the taxation without representation global tax through the un plan, the revitalization of the fairness doctrine, the so-called carbon tax, etc) appear to be headed for super majorities in the House and Senate. What do we do? We act as Dr. Randy Pauch does. To be sure, Dr. Pauch tried everything he could to save his own life, as surely we must do, but he recognized that beyond his own fight, he was fighting for those who would still be here after his death.
We are fighting for our immediate American freedoms, but, even if our freedoms are about ready to be stolen from us by cancerous thugs dressed as benign caregivers of the “poor”, we have others who we must seek to save from the same fate possibly about to befall us today.

We put this post on to prepare our audience for the possible “losses” that may be coming our way. Life is truly short, brutal, and unforgiving. Inbetween all that brutal and unforgiving stuff we find our slices of grace. This is a lecture given by a man who is dying of cancer. His interest, in speaking to a graduating class, was to get the most important facts about life out, as he saw them. OUr favorite is his quote about brick walls…..they are not meant to stop us, but rather they are only meant to keep the less dedicated amongst us out. OUr struggles ahead are mighty, and seemingly insurmountable, but we have an American lifeforce, a core value system of individualism, of community, of freedom, of tolerance without forced “acceptance”, of living our unique lives the way WE see fit while remembering that we are a part of a community, a community that needs us to be free, and a community we need to keep our freedoms secure.
So as we prepare to build our digital armies to beat back the oppression that is sure to come, remember this man, facing the end of his life, remember when he says “don’t complain, work hard”, because this is exactly what all of us need to do:
