GREENNEWS REPORT
The full effects of green conversion, carbon offsets, and other green-related
reforms
may not be as smooth or as beneficial as seemed obvious.
The scramble for those carbon offset dollars has begun. Here,
businesses are ratcheting up
for the potential new business in carbon offsetting, the scheme where a
carbon emitter
pays a company to reduce carbon levels somewhere else.
Here is another example. This Australian company is talking about
underground
carbon storage. It denies its interest is connected to anything other
than local concerns,
but critics are doubtful.
Yvo de Boer, the executive secretary of the UN Framework Convention on
Climate Change…
"There's a double worry. The low oil price means that a lot of renewable
energy projects
are being pushed onto the backburner and at the same time there's less
investment capital around,"
The reality of climate change technology and development is the economy.
Green Projects, such as wind farms and solar farms face an unlikely foe,
their supposed champions,
environmentalists.

GOVNEWS REPORT 3-30-09
Obama calls for a new war strategy, backs off on global climate change
leadership,
or at least tempers it, and tracking some of the recovery dollars…
"…chief climate-change negotiator said Sunday that
the U.S. would be "powerfully,
fervently engaged" in global talks to reduce carbon emissions but warned
of a difficult path ahead…"
Is the US tempering its global climate change stance? Climate
negotiator tempers
first signs of bold US leadership
Obama video on the new strategy in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Whether you are for or against Obama's policies, one thing you cannot argue
with
is Obama's administration is sweeping Web 2.0 into the White House.
This
video, linked to his original campaign blog, is a great example of the types
of tools web 2.0 can provide to enhance government and public exchange.
"Perry said the money would come with too many strings attached.
Taking the half billion would require the state to assist qualified
out-of-work residents
seeking part-time jobs, an idea that Perry said the state has rejected
before,
partly because it could discourage them from seeking full-time
employment."
The ramifications of the recovery act of 2009….States chafe under federal
power grab.
"U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the
first award of nearly
$100 million in environmental stimulus funding to be
invested in Colorado
under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery
Act)"
The Recovery Dollars at work. Colorado gets first of the
green part of the
recovery act

Webmersion Reports
Newspapers see further presence decline as China builds a cyber army.
Lest you fear,
cyber sophistication is now being taught in greater numbers in colleges and
universities around
the world. The webmersion trends are, as many trends these days, mixed.
While
we naturally fear the new, necessity drives us towards further development.
In the webmersion
spotlight, these battling trends can be seen.
Newspapers Lose Record Nunbers in last quarter
While it may not mean the end for conventional newspapers, certainly the
latest downturn
is indicative of the descent of print and the further rise of digital.
The recent round of attacks on Tibetan Activists has raised concerns that
China may
be developing a concerted team of hackers, clones, and other digital
miscreants.
British College offers well-balanced, visionary social media course, faces
ridicule.
Is the world not fully aware of the new importance of social media from
finding a wife\
to finding a job.

Rick Wagoner of GM to step down
Reuters broke this story about GM chief stepping down. Could this be the beginning of the GM death knell or is this the beginning of the rebirth? A rat always leaves a sinking ship, does it leave a ship about ready to be revitalized? My guess is Wagoner is hiding some of his own magic arithmetic like the rest of the ceo goons who forgot to put America before capital.
