U.S. and coalition forces have been fighting in Afghanistan for more than eight years, initially rooting the Taliban from control after the September 11, 2001, terror attacks against the U.S. because of its support of al Qaeda terrorists who carried out the attacks CNN

Commentary:   In going into Afghanistan we have uprooted thousands of people from their homes, businesses and lives.  We see similarities between the Vietnam War and the current war in Afghanistan as it is being fought today. These similarities may become more obvious as the war continues to be managed politically and not militarily.
