Have you wondered why the American Civil Liberties Union hasn’t been carrying out its usual war on Christmas this season? There is a one-word explanation: money.  In a letter to ACLU supporters, its chief writes, “The ACLU was recently notified that our largest individual donor, David Gelbaum, who contributed over $20 million to the organization in 2009, will not be able to continue his support due to a change in his financial circumstances.”

Ultimately, all pro-lifers have when dealing with politicians are relationships, promises and legislative history.

Human beings are fallible, and Nelson’s duplicity was just another reminder our only hope is Jesus.

Up to the end Nelson was working with all the right people – Democrats for Life, Nebraska Right to Life, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, pro-life Michigan Rep. Bart Stupak.

But in the end, Nelson betrayed them all.

The Obama administration may be forced to delay new greenhouse-gas regulations for a year under a Senate Republican proposal that the Democratic leadership has agreed to allow a vote on in early 2010.

As part of a deal on a bill to increase the nation’s debt limit, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) will allow the GOP to submit a controversial amendment to temporarily suspend new emissions regulation. The agreement was reached late Tuesday.

Dec. 23 (Bloomberg) — Red Hat Inc., the Linux software maker whose sales and profit in the latest quarter exceeded analysts’ estimates, said demand for its products is reviving, especially in North America.

“People are starting to spend like they’re seeing a recovery,” Chief Executive Officer Jim Whitehurst said in an interview yesterday after the company reported earnings for its third quarter ended Nov. 30.

A consensus has emerged that dark matter mostly consists of massive particles coughed out of the big bang. The reason for the appellation “dark” is because, unlike atomic particles, they have no electric charge, so cannot emit or scatter light. Nor do they feel the strong nuclear force that traps protons and neutrons in atomic nuclei. As a result, the dark particles interact so feebly with ordinary matter that they mostly pass right through it.

Health care bill clears last hurdle before passage- AP

WASHINGTON – Exultant Senate Democrats pushed President Barack Obama’s landmark health care overhaul past a final procedural hurdle Wednesday, setting up a Christmas Eve vote to pass the legislation extending coverage to 30 million Americans.

Democrats voted 60-39 to end a GOP filibuster and move to a final vote Thursday. All 58 Democrats and two independents hung together against unanimous Republican opposition.
