Geithner says in an interview broadcast Sunday that in times of economic crisis, international investors will continue to buy U.S. Treasury bonds because the bonds are a safe investment.
Moody’s Investors Service recently issued a warning that the government’s credit rating could eventually be in jeopardy if nation’s finances don’t improve. The cost of borrowing would increase significantly if the ratings service lowered the credit rating, also known as a bond rating, for U.S. Treasuries.
Geithner tells ABC’s “This Week” that will never happen.

India is quitting the IPCC, and the quote from Indian Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh is just beautiful:
There is a fine line between climate science and climate evangelism. I am for climate science.
Don’t mess with this Ramesh, either.
The fraud at the IPCC is particularly relevant to India because the Himalayan glaciers are a local matter, so India is now to found its own National Institute of Himalayan Glaciology to study the matter…..

While Facebook is in the midst of rolling out their homepage to more than 400 million Facebook users, the company is also preparing to upgrade their search product through a greater integration with Bing. We’ve written extensively about the opportunity for Facebook to upgrade their search product (what we called at the time the “real social search engine“). It appears that Bing will be a greater part of Facebook’s search product for the time being.

oday’s South China Morning Post reports how Hong Kong’s political opposition has faced repeated incidents of having their Facebook groups deleted.

A Facebook group with 84,298 members formed to oppose the pro-establishment DAB was deleted
Kelvin Sit Tak-O, who runs a discussion group that opposes the pro-establishment party, the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB), said his group’s Facebook page was shut down without notice on Thursday. The group had 84,298 members and was aiming for 100,000.
