Pence Presidential Run Urged Forward- Pence For President Petition starts on Facebook: ishttp://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Conservative-Champion/183472778341064?ref=ts&v=wall.  America’s President Committee (APC), which includes former Kansas Congressman Jim Ryun, is launching a campaign to draft Mike Pence for President. Their website is here: http://theconservativechampion.org.

Ralph Benko, author of The Websters’ Dictionary (HTTP://www.thewebstersdictionary.com  is coordinating the effort. Benko worked as a deputy counsel in the Reagan White House and in President George W. Bush’s Office of Faith-based Community Initiatives.

In a press release, Benko stated, “Mike Pence describes himself as ‘First a Christian, then a conservative, then a Republican.’ He unifies fiscal, social, and national security conservatives, and will energize the conservative coalition essential to wining back the White House in 2012.”

The campaign itself is as much a response to a groundswell of populist support for Pence as an initiative by a committee of supporters. Tea Party activists have come to regard Pence as one of their most reliable voices for popular, common sense conservatism. In August of 2008 Pence appeared on the Freedomist’s BlogTalkRadio show “The 57TH State” (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/freedomist/2008/08/26/the-57th-state-with-congressmen-mike-pence-ind) where he discussed his opposition to the fairness doctrine and his commitment to the first amendment. Since then, Pence has been a stalwart defender of freedom, along with Jim Demint in the Senate, often as a singular voice in a chorus of naysayers and compromisers.
